Bodega

The University of Texas at Austin | Moody Film | Production and Costume Design

As a member of the production design and costume design team for Bodega, I collaborated on visually shaping a grounded, emotionally driven story centered on a Hispanic, low-income family navigating the realities of owning a neighborhood bodega. The film explores survival, loyalty, and moral conflict as a bodega owner is forced to help a friend with a dangerous job in order to protect his family. Through costume and design work, our goal was to create an authentic, lived-in world that reflected the economic pressures, cultural identity, and personal histories of the characters. I contributed to building character-driven looks that supported the narrative’s realism, ensuring clothing choices felt practical, worn, and true to the environment while still subtly reinforcing each character’s internal struggle.
